The annual spawning of Australia's Great Barrier Reef has been called "The Greatest Sex Show on Earth".

The Great Barrier Reef is the largest living organism on Earth, a coral reef off the coast of Queensland, north-east Australia, that is over 1600 miles (2600km), with a total area of some 133,000 sq mi (344,400 sq-km). Each year around November, when the temperature is at 26 degrees Celsius (78.8F), and the Moon is full, dozens of species of coral spawn on mass, releasing billions of eggs and sperm into the warm waters, where fertilisation takes place. It is the greatest release of eggs and sperm anywhere on the planet.
